Looking at the day's pictures so far while waiting for our subway. As always, Sarah is the one watching the watchers... never trust a spy with a camera...

No outing is complete without giving Allis a good old-fashioned scare followed by a debate about center-of-mass and equilibrium.

The roomies are joyous upon finding a place to sit and a shoulder to lean on!

We made our way over to Central Park, which is HUGE by the way if you've never been there. We probably saw about one-sixth of the place and we were there for a good hour! Very beautiful park - they had to pack all the foliage into one area on the island, so there it is...

Where the trees meet the buildings meet the sky...

... and then it started raining. It was more romantic for some than others. But it was charming for all, until it began raining in earnest... then it was Starbucks time! Unfortunately there weren't enough seats at Starbucks, so we sought refuge in a Borders across the street in the travel section (seemed appropriate as we were seeking asylum) to warm up. We had to make our way through an Elton John exhibit first, though. THAT was interesting. Especially that suit somewhere between a chicken costume and the creatures from "The Village." Yes, be very afraid.

By the time we were able to direct a pair of incompotent cabbies to CHINATOWN (it's only an entire section of Manhattan, for crying out loud, and everything's in Chinese, you'd think it wouldn't be that hard to find), we were a little hungry and a little silly...

... and by the time food actually arrived, we started wondering exactly what we'd been thinking when we ordered what we did. But it WAS good, for the record - even Joel's styro-rice-cakes!

And finally, around 11 p.m., there was recorded on digital film a classic Leeann look never before captured on camera. Maybe it was being at a train station; maybe it was all the walking; maybe it was the hot chili peppers in my Chinese chicken; maybe it was just a New York state of mind, but there it is.

I've wanted to go to New York for a while and almost got to go in the summer of '01 but it didn't work out. Thanks again for sharing--I feel as though you let me hang out with y'all via your pictures...a skill in photography I have yet to acquire. :-)
