Wednesday night...

As much as I would like to pontificate on some super-secret part of my job, I have been warned by the powers-that-be (and no, I don't mean my roommate who is soon starting her new position at the State Department) that bogging on certain things is uber dangerous... therefore I will only talk about boring, inane things, except for what happens as a normal part of my daily diet of bizarre out of body experiences outside the confines of my dear home-away-from-home-away-from-home, Rayburn Office building... oh wait, was I supposed to disclose that?
(Sorry, Dad, you know I'm doing this solely for your edification... after giving me a hard time, I just couldn't let it go without comment!)
That being said, Wednesday night was so fun, I'm glad it wasn't illegal we are able to do it again sometime. To give a brief background: Chris (from Oregon), who has newly established his abode with Galen (from PHC) and Jeremy (from PIC), decided with his roommates to ask the three of us girls to come over for dinner after church on Wednesday. Sounded cool enough. But then things slowly started disintegrating. After Chris planned out a meal of vegetarian proportions to account for the never-fluxuating taste buds of this group, the only cook of the house, Galen, realized he had an engagement over at Georgetown Law, so he couldn't make dinner. After about 24 hours of negotiations, we decided to "wing it." After church, Chris and us girls went to Cosi's... and the fun started.
About 10 minutes into sitting outside, we see Emma and Zach (from PHC) walk by. This is all very awe-inspiring, especially when we learn that Zach is actually staying at the guys' place tonight. So we introduce him to Chris, and Emma runs off to her bus. Later, Steve (from Oregon) decides to meet up with us because he wanted to meet my roommates, and adds his usual zeal to the conversation. Tim (from PHC) and Jeremy walk by several times during that time. Finally, someone glides by on a bike, and then stops. It is, of course, Galen. Now Steve and Galen interned at the White House together, so they had a connection, and Chris lives with PHCers now, and he knows all about PHCers via his time with my roommates and me... so it's all interconnected and very funny.
Long story short, there's seven jovial people sitting around this Cosi's table outside, eventually circling around "fake fire" (Sarah's name for the S'mores kit you can order from Cosi's - very fun little contraption, and very neat to do if you've never tried it!), laughing and talking. It got a little chilly and we migrated over to the guys' (very cool) apartment. It's pretty nice considering its bachelor pad status and the peg board in the kitchen makes you think you could be replacing your carburetor and making spaghetti at the same time. Seriously, it's very fun. We started debating about illegal immigration and didn't even look at our watches till... *cough cough* 11:30 *cough cough* so needless to say it was a bit of a rough time waking this morning... but it was bright and gorgeous this morning, and the good company, laughter, and the very cool fact of seeing two worlds collide makes me feel like I am growing up and have awesome friends.
And in other news, Sarah just randomly announced that she wants to be married so her husband can take care of the bills. Just so that's out there for everyone's personal edification.
Tonight's closing note consists of the beautiful closing for my Valley of Vision prayer today. It's so much a reflection of where God is molding my heart... what an encouragement to recognize what sovereignty means.

If it be consistent with Thy eternal counsels,
the purpose of Thy grace,
and the great ends of Thy glory,
then bestow upon me the blessings of Thy comforts;
If not, let me resign myself to
Thy wiser determinations.
