Oregon Fun

Okay, so when we weren't sleeping, watching CSI or Law & Order, or doing wedding-ish stuff, we did get out and see Oregon - really!
Here we have Allis and Sarah at Multnomah Falls, the second-highest year-round waterfall in the United States, just one part of the glorious Columbia River Gorge. But they're really smiling because we'd just finished the first drive of the trip that did not involve a wrong turn or wandering for half hours on end...

Oh, and yes, we visited heaven... at least if you ask my two very literate (in the sense of being very literary) roomies. Powell's in the world's largest independent bookstore and occupies an entire city block in downtown Portland. There are... just a few books here.
We splurged and bought lots of fun things to suit our various interests. Sarah eventually got over the fact that they only had five or so books on Libya. Allis was after everything Samuel Johnson. I was delighted to find a volume of C.S. Lewis' Latin letters. Who would've thought?

Back at Multnomah Falls - this time Sarah and me, a little closer to the water. Yes, of course those are raindrops falling!

And did we mention Allis liked Powell's?

Just so long as the bookstore has coffee and its associated beverages, the size matters not to me. ;-) I'm thrilled for all y'all's being able to partake in the most wonderful sounding experience. Flying with friends? Does life get any better? :-D Mayhap your next sojourn will cause you to wend your merry way towards the vicinity of Southeastern Virginia...
